I am about to land in Canada next month. Since I will have to come back to the US for another half a year, I am planning on buying a new car around this Christmas. Does anybody know that if I could put this planned-to-buy new car on the goods to follow list? Thank you!

As far as I recall the car has to be at least an year old. So in any case you dont qualify as you dont have the car yet.Besides you have to provide VINs etc.., which you obviously cannot do.
In addition unless you are paying cash for your car you\'d have to clear all liens on the car before you export it to Canada. That is possible I suppose but may be difficult because you are just landing. You then have to talk to the Canadian lender into looking at US credit history.

Are you sure about clearing the lien ? Do the banks here not allow exporting ?

I do know that you HAVE to pay off your US lender before you can export the car.
My car was all paid for when I got it here but I found out details as I was planning to buy another car at the time. I was not certain how easily I\'d get a loan in Canada after coming and so was looking at US loans before I realised it would not work.
