Good News or Bad News

Today my case was transfered to the local office, Atlanta. After waiting for 3 years, not sure if this bad or good.

RD 6/01
ND 8/01
FP 1/03

Why would a case get transfered?
how long will it take to get an interview?
what can be done to expedite an interview.?

Approval just round the corner for you!

It happended to me. See details at the bottom. Within two weeks of transfer, my case was approved.

Good luck!

I am afraid to say that this is BAD news.
The reason is not a transfer the reason is it is transferred to Atlanta. Atlanta is is one of the slowest center in processing.
REALCANADIAN one of the moderators in the forum is waiting for long. Please check cases trasnfererred to ATLANTA.
I am sorry unless u are lucky or ATLANTA changes policy you have to wait for long
hope i am wrong

Other than realcanadian, i believe Poongunarannar 's case has been xferred to Atlanta. they could throw some light.

Do local office look at cases based on RD/ND ?
I hope they do, sleeper.

ATLANTA -- Very poor processing times

Transfer to local office may be a benign thing, but transfer to Atlanta is surely a frustrating and hopeless thing. RealCanadian's transfer was in 10/2002 and mine was in 12/2003. After 18 months, RealCanadian has not yet received any interview notice from Atlanta. I don't think I will get any call until 2005 end. So, that is the real bad news. Atlanta office is trailing TSC in its 485 processing, unlike other faster processing centers nearby: viz: Jacksonville, FL; Miami, FL; Tampa, FL.

However, I came to know of a person, whose petition after it was transferred to Atlanta, went there to get his Interim-EAD at which time he got to speak to the Officer and asked if the Officer would be interested in rather adjudicating the I-485, if it was a routine transfer. The officer, after checking found that there were no special reasons for the transfer and therefore scheduled an interview within the next 4 days and this guy, together with his wife and kids got his GC approved. He went for an interim EAD, but was able to by-pass the entire queue of petitions to get his 485 approved. The point to be noted is that he did not have any other issues regarding transfer. If INS would have transferred for any specific reason, they will not be willing to schedule any interview, unless they cover all the background checks and other investigations as needed. So, this is one of the rarest of the rare exceptions I have witnessed. This is hearsay and I have no other information available. So, if you are lucky and you land up for an interim EAD and if your case history is pretty clean, try your luck in Atlanta.

Thanke

Thanks everybody,

I emailed my lawyer , he thinks it is a good thing, and in certain cases, especially after 9/11, is a routine. The Atlanta office process RD 7/16 and my case RD 6/5/01. or ar least I am trying to llok at the bright side .

Do you think if I apply for an AP in Atlanta, this may trigger a faster interview. I have a pending AP at the TSC since 1/04, I am traveling in the end of June, and not sure if that AP would get approved before travel time.
