First of all, Immigration is a federal matter, which means you may choose to hire an attorney anywhere in the United States. But it is always advisable to hire an attorney in your neighborhood.
Secondly, family based immigration is very simple and easy like a piece of cake, so naturally you don’t need the assistance of any attorney unless your husband has some complicated situation(s).
Thirdly, if you have money to spend on attorney then you may choose to hire an attorney, but make sure to take the advise of at least 4 attorneys before making a final decision in hiring an attorney. Mostly attorneys will show concern to your situation and will tell you what you would like to hear only in the beginning, but once you will hire them, everything would change.
Fourth, even if you have an attorney on a case, you would need to care about your case yourself. Having an attorney doesn’t mean your case will definitely be approved. Instead, you would need to help yourself in order for an attorney to help you out. Besides, if you research all kind of immigration forums, then you would find that mostly people's cases were denied and they ended up in a deportation proceeding because of the mistakes of their attorneys. So my advice is-Never ever trust your attorney blindly, rather do your own search and research yourself to get familiar with your case and laws applicable in your situation.
If you do retain an attorney then make sure attorney is a trial attorney, and not the one who only files paperwork. Because if something goes wrong then a trial attorney can represent you in the court thru appeal process. Otherwise, mostly immigration attorneys represent people only on paper, so you might want to pass on them.
Good Luck.
