GOING home before extension of Bvisa

i applied for my dad,s touritst visa extension till jan 2004. i am yet to receive their reply. now my dad has to go back to india. we had alredy sent the original I94 to BCIS. i dont even have photocopy. what should i do so that he does not have problem to go back and then come back 6-8months later.

Could be a problem because there is no way BCIS will know that he left US. He is likely to have difficulties in his future visits.
Before he leaves, make copies of his ticket. Also ask him to preserve his all boarding passes from his journey back to India.
Keep the visa extension receipt notice and approval/denial notice once you receive it.
It is always a good idea to have copies of EVRYTHING that is submitted to any government agency, specially BCIS.

i actually located the copy of original I94 . should we still wait till the approval or denial comes or contact BCIS before he leaves or not.

He does not have to wait for it. Keep copies of I-94 for records and also copies of ticket, boarding passes, etc for future use.
