God knows how long i should wait to get GC

Hi all,
    I am new here. I just filed my I485-asylee Dec 01. Although the receit told me I should wait only 365-390 days but god knows how long i must wait.
Should I change back to H1 status since that takes a shorter time now? Also, can travel back to my orginal country if after I get GC as asylee? Hope I can share experiences from you guys. Thank you very much!!

It will take a long time. Nobody knows exactly how long. People are guessing it\'ll be about 5-7 years.

I don\'t understand why one needs to get H-1. Can\'t you just go for Labor Certificate if your company wants to sponsor you? What\'s the benefit to get H-1?

I am not about the work permission. I just want get GC ASAP. I heard there is a bill S.1311 which suggest elimnate the 10,000 cap of the I-485 for Asylee. I also tried write to my senator and ask his support. What else we could do? Just wait.....
