My friend got admitted to a top US school. But he is currently working on EAD, I140 was just approved. His sponsoring company is willing to give him employment letter in case BCIS ask. Question is: If he goes to school this fall, using EAD status, will this endanger his GC? If GC goes through, will he have problem during citizenship stage?

I dont know if it really affect the GC process or not. But i know a friend of mine is doing it. He is attending one of the top B schools with his EAD and 485 pending. But the question would be what happens if GC gets rejected when he is in the middle of his school courses ? It would be an issue because he already shown his intention to immigrate through GC and changing to an F1 (a Non immigrant visa with no intent to immigrate) will be a problem. Again it is the worst case. I have to deal a similar problem also and i manage to get a job where my school is located and i work flexible hours with the job and flexible hours with the school. This is the option i found quite not risky. Again it is matter of choice.

He would be classifed as an International with regard to his student loan and he can take any loans as long as it is available to him. I dont think federal or Stafford are available. Even private loans would need a co-signor with excellent credit history. I could not get any loan and the one i could get had a huge interest rate. I dont know where your friend is going to school. But the Financial aid office at school should be able to direct him to get his optimized loan. Harvard and Wharton have loans for internationals.
