give up greencard and reapply in the future?

Both my wife and I have been greencard holders since Jan 2006. I have been laid off since early this year and have been unable to find a job in the US as my skills are very specialized. I have a job offer in the middle east and will probably go work there (and give up my PR) while my wife stays behind and applies for naturalization end of next year. Once she becomes a US citizen, will I have problems re-applying for a new greencard? I will probably be out of the US for more than 2 years. What happens to my current social security numbers and credit history? What are the requirements for the re-application and how long will the process take?

you should be fine
ssn and credit history: stay the same
the minute she is citizen, she can apply for you
time : depends from state to state.

You can do that. I don’t think you have any problems in reapplying PR again once she becomes USC. I don’t think there is any problem and you get permanent card not conditional. Except immigration rules changes in senate this year!!!

But I guess once you can take AP and stay outside US for more than 1 year. That breaks your continuous residency for applying N 400 but worth doing than earlier method. You can check this it may be better bet.

Your social security no will be same.
Your credit history will be good unless you don’t have any debts.
I guess you can still keep your some credit cards and can give US address
I guess as long as your not giving different address to your Loan accounts the address on your credit history wont change

Anyway try to get AP before leaving US for Middle east at least you able to find a job later you can come and stay easily

Why give up your green card? Get a reentry permit. That preserves your green card for 2 years, then you can apply for another one if you need to stay overseas a bit longer (although the second one may be valid for less than 2 years).

Permanent residents are not eligible to apply for Advance Parole.

I believe accepting a job overseas invalidates his greencard

No, it does not. It is a factor that points towards abandonment of residence, but by itself it does not invalidate the green card. They will look at the totality of circumstances including the length of employment and the individual's ties to the US.
