May be it is...

May be it is because for the EAD approval the officer has to pull the file so he may say to himself 'why pull the file twice, let's just finish this one'.

Just my theory - I applied for my EAD around Oct-20 my RD is Jan-28-2002 (sorry mislabeled as 2001 before) so may be I pushing my luck a little too much, but its worth a try.

Alright , I hope your theory is correct. MY EAD renewal application
was received by INS on 10/28/02 and my RD is 10/22/01 so I am keeping my fingers crosed. EAD, GC or RFE

in my case, INS was one step ahead: the moment I mailed it, they approved my 485. ;)

If you see some regular approvals of that month, just go ahead and apply for EAD extension. I mean, some one with DEC RC want to apply for EAD extension, when he sees a couple of DEC RD and still waiting for the approval.
