hi. just got my petition approved. the file is now (i think) at the nvc. my pd is current, not by much, but current. i am would be son of citizen from other parts of the world.

how long do i have to wait? do i get a visa right away because of the pd being current? i see the page speaks of certain number of visas. how does one know when the visas are up and we must wait for next year? of the 23,400, how do we know that we are on number 11,734 or number 23,330?

do let me know. thank you.

Current means visa is available

While no one can tell u how long u have to wait after ur PD is current, the fact that ur PD is current means that a visa # available for you. Whether u will get it depends on whether USCIS is completely satisfied with ur application and not delay it with RFEs and hopefully ur FBI namecheck is complete. If all these are satisfactorily completed wait for about 20 days to see any LUD changes and then take an Infopass to enquire about ur case.

Oh BTW, what do u mean by ur petition is approved ?
