getting the greencard

hello,,guys please assist me on the duration of getting the greencard once you`re already in the states,
which of the two is first,greencard or social security number.

Your GC comes automatically after some time (can take 14 days to 6 month). I would strongly give you the advice to go after some days to the nearest SSA office and apply for the SSN. Yu find the neede form there: http://www.ssa.gov/online/ss-5.html
If they reject your application and tell you its to early try the next SSA office. We did the same
