Hi All,

I am getting ready to apply for US citizenship.

Few questions.

1. Me and wife have different dates we got our GC, does it make sense to wait additional 3-4 months and appy together. I have heard interview etc are not together - so I should not wait for her to be eligible and apply together.???

2. Is there a checkslist of FAQ I shud read which talks about what docs etc I shud have etc etc.

3. I got my GC in July 2001, I had 3-4 trips out of US since I got my GC - each trip lasting about 2-3 weeks
When can I appy - I am assuming right now April 2006. Do I need to add the weeks I was out of US to the 4 years 9 months period ?

Thanks

1. Each application is treated independent and processed as such. Therefore one doesn't have bearing on the other. Therefore you don't have to wait for your spouse to become eligible to apply for yourself. Even if you did apply together, there is no guarantee that your applications will get adjudicated together.

2. The instruction booklet (Naturalization Guide) tells you all about it. For most straight forward cases (Employment based GC, 5 years wait etc) all you need to submit with the application is the copy of GC, 2 photos, check for $400-00.

3. Go back by 90 days from your GC approval annivarsary in 2006 and mail it. Some folks say it is 3 month as opposed to 90 days and sweat all over arguing about it. I don't think CIS would try to split hair on this issue.

were you referring the trips which the OP mentioned?

or were you referring the 90 days vs 3 months?

If you were referring the 90 days vs 3 months, I believe USCIS will enforce the law which it is 5 yrs anniversity - 90 days.
