I have been in the US since March 1999 on H1B Visa and my H1B expires in March 2005. My fiancee is a US citizen and we are getting married next month in the US court and soon after will leave for India to have a traditional hindu wedding. I had applied for my green card through work in September 2001 and still awaiting labor certification.
I need some advise on the following:
1. Name Change as I intend to take my husbands last name. Should I do this after our wedding in the US or after I return from India?
2. Should my husband sponsor my green card. If so, again when should we apply? Before Leaving or after we come back???
3. As my employer has already applied for my green card , what should we do to start marriage based sponsorship. Will it affect my employment in anyways?
