Getting married with a 0-1 visa

Hi. I have a 0-1 artist visa. I live in nyc and I'm getting married with my fiancèè in a few months. He is italian like me,both italian citizens. he never applied for any visa and just have been to the states visiting one time. I was wondering how my visa works. I would like to make him move to usa in the future because I'm travelling back and forth now but I will be staying in new york for some time soon. Is there something I should do?

I assume he is using the visa waiver program and has not overstayed now or in the past?

If that is the case, once you get married he can get an O-3 visa at a consulate overseas (he cannot change from visa waiver to O-3 within the US). The O-3 will be tied to your O-1 status, so if you lose your O-1 status the O-3 will be voided.

Then later on if you apply for a green card, he can obtain a derivative green card along with you.

thank you very much, that was really really helpful. Looking for 0-3 on google I found some info.

so it looks like basically we should do what I've done for my visa more or less. DS-167, passport, pictures.. Will I have to give my (or his) bank statements (to show he doesn't need to work when he's in the usa as I garantee for him or something like that) as I've done before for my visa or the fact that I have the founds to live here would be implicit as included in my 0-1?

I'm trying to imagine how long is this procedure, I mean, to put the documents together because of course we would like to make it right as soon as possible.

Thank you for your time, I really appreciate it

This page has a good explanation: http://www.hawaii.edu/fsis/index.php?q=o-1/info/o3.html#status. Looks like a job letter (without bank statements) will be sufficient.

For the O-3, there is no lengthy process like what you went through for the O-1 visa; your spouse will basically piggyback on what was already done for your O-1. After getting married, make an appointment at the consulate in Italy. Then after the interview the consulate should return the passport within the next 2-3 days. Possibly the same day, if they still have same-day service in Italy.
