I`ve tried to search the web for a clear answer on this question, but haven`t been able to find it.. if there`s an answer on the forum already about this, I appologize.

my situation is as follows:
I`m a foreigner living and working in the USA on a A2 visa, been here for 4 years and the visa is still valid for another 2. I`m getting married this year to my american fiance, and we`re trying to figure out the process of aplying for a work permit . my question is concering the honeymoon. we really want to go to a caribbean island for our honeymoon, but now I`m worried it might make the change of status application more complicated. if we get married and go on our honeymoon before applying for "change of visa status", will that be a problem? I wil still have a valid visa to enter the US and live/work here.
any advice is highly appriciated!

You have to get married before applying for adjustment of status. And once you apply for adjustment of status, you won't be able to leave the US for 2-3 months while waiting for Advance Parole. So getting married and going on the honeymoon before applying is realistically your only option unless you can tolerate a long delay for your honeymoon.

Note that because of your A2 status, when you apply for adjustment of status you'll have some extra paperwork that most applicants don't have, namely the I-508 form.

thanks for your answer Jacko! We would not apply before returning from the honeymoon, (and we`re not going on a honeymoon before we`re married :-) I just want to make sure I`m not making a mistake going out of the country before applying.
