Getting married between LCA and I-140

Hi,

Right now I am working in US on H1-B visa and my current employer is sponsoring my green card application. For this ,he filed labor approval application for me in June 2006 and it got approved in Oct 2006. Now my employer is going ahead with filing my I-140 application.

I got engaged (with someone who is working in US on L1 visa and is an Indian citizen) after filing of my labor application and I want to get married in near future sometime. I want to know whether there is any restriction at any stage of green card application where applicant is restricted from marrying
a non-green card applicant or a foreign citizen (Indian in this case).

Will my getting married lead to cancellation of my application? If not, will just changing the marital status on my application will enable my future spouse to be a co-applicant for green card application.

Thanks in anticipation.

You need to marry before your I-485 approval to make your spouse eligible for I-485 (or FTJ). Once you are married, you need to send a separate I-485 for your spouse.

Also, marriage is not going to affect your immigration status unless marriage itself is not within boundaries of law.
