Getting married before CP interview

Friends, I am single and I want to get married before my CP interview at the consulate. After I send out my Packet 3, can I still get married and let my wife interview with me at the consulate and get our immigration visa at the same time? For example, if I get married before the IV interview date at the consulate and my future wife is in China, can I bring her to the consulate on the interview date and tell the visa officer that "I got married, can my wife get her immigration visa today as well?"

Or I need to notify the NVC and let my wife go through the CP process again like I did (notify NVC, receive fee bill from NVC, pay fees to St. Louis, receive Packet 3 from NVC, fill out Packet 3 for my wife...)?

Your help and advice will be highly appreciated.

Hi
I am in the same position as you , as per the information I got from the consulate. You can marry anytime before the interview is set, just send them your marriage certiifcate and the consulate will include her name in your application.
If the time is very little , they will add your wife's name in your app and then schdedule an interview for a later date.

Krishwork,

Thanks much for your reply and the info!

"You can marry anytime before the interview is set" - can you please further explain what it means? It means I can marry anytime before the interview date or before the consulate SENDS OUT packet IV?

Also, if the consulate includes my future wife's name in my app, will they also do name check/security check for my wife? If so, will the name check of my wife delay my CP process?

Thanks.

Um! you can marry anytime before you become a permanent resident. And you do not become a PR till you enter the US. So technically you can marry any time before you land in US.

But don't go to that extreme. ;)

Thanks, it's a big relief for me.

But if I notify the consulate that I just get married, will my marriage status change delay my CP processing? Will they put my CP case on hold for several months until they finish my future wife's name check/security check and then add my wife's case to my CP case? Thanks.
