Hello all

I have a question. i am one of the gettting greencard for 2014. and also i had a interview to usa embassy (so got visa on my passport). I am thinking to come in May. the question is that if i get married with my gf, can she get also greencard, or i need to wait to be usa citizen. is it possible anyone can get greencard, get married with anyone who has greencard, or not?. Is there a way to help me?

Thanks

A permanent resident can petition for a spouse, but there is a wait for the priority date to be current in the F2A (spouse and minor children of permanent resident) category. Is your gf in the U.S.? What is her status?

What is the basis of your green card? A parent filed for you? A sibling? DV lottery?

Depending on the basis of your green card, your GF may be able to get a green card soon if you marry her before arriving in the US, or marriage before arrival in the US may void your own green card.

i got green card by DV lottery. We are still in our country. my first arriving to usa in may. also i am gonna come with my GF. we are thinking to get F1 visa for her or any advice

If you married her before the interview, you could have added her as a derivative and she'd get a green card along with you or soon after you. However your marriage would still be scrutinized and you'd have to present evidence of a bona fide relationship, as they get suspicious of people who marry after winning the DV lottery (see http://lawblog.boilapc.com/2010/07/313/ )

However it might not be too late. You haven't arrived in the US yet, so it might be possible for her to get a GC along with you if you marry before being admitted into the US. But if they allow that, you'll have to interview again along with her.
