I am in a dilemma as to what my options are. Could you please give me some suggestions:
I am currently on a H1B visa and it expires on Oct. 1st 2003( 9 days from now).
My company has filed for a H1B extension on Sep. 16th using the premium processing.
Today I received information that i am getting laid off this thursday ( Sep 25th).
I am living with my finacee who is on a H1 visa.

1) Should i get married to him immediately and apply for a change of status to H4?
Will I be out of status (if i get married immediately and apply for a H4) until the
i actually get an approval notice from INS.

2) Should i get an I-20 from a school nearby and apply for conversion to F-1 visa?

3) Should i just look for other jobs and try to get a H-1 transfer?

Please let me know at your earliest convenience and so that i can take the necessary steps to keep
my status.

I would go with options 2 or 3, don't get married just to be in status (unless you want to). Marriage is a big commitment.
