I am currently in California on F-1 OPT which ends Aug 2005.
After which I plan to switch to J-1. My current visa is expired
and I have to travel to Zurich for business. It is not possible to
renew visa in Switzerland as it takes 2-3 months to get it. So I
have to go either to Tijuana or Vancouver to get a new visa on
my way back from Switzerland. I tried to get a visa appt at either
of the two places through the nvars system. But no date is available
in June. My questions:
1) It is possible that I go from Zurich to Vancouver without a visa appt.
and then get one at the US consulate or at the airport? If yes, how long
does it take and is there any chance of refusal?
2) Can I do the same thing in Tijuana? Just from San Diego and then try
to get a visa there (without appt). I will try to get an appt but none
available yet. I do have an appt at nuevo laredo but it apparently takes
28 days for visa to be processed.
3) The third option would be to go to India.
Which of the three is the best option?
