Hi all

I understand that after 90days of your EAD application, one can get the iEAD from the local INS office.

Is this 90 day mark from the Receipt date or from the Notice Date?

I have a EAD RD: 30 Dec 2004, ND: Jan 11 2005, If I visit the lcoal INS office on March 31 2005, should I be qualfied to get the iEAD?

Any other tips on succesfully getting an iEAD at the San Jose, CA, INS office?

It is from receipt date.
I haven't tried to get iEAD yet.. So cannot offer any tips.
You should generally get it if there are no obvious complications in your I-140 application.

AFAIK, you cannot just walk-in for iEAD. You need to make an InfoPass appointment.

According to my compnay lawer, the 90 day period starts from the RD.

What is this infopass appointment?

I never heard of this, usually one would wait in line at the INS office, submit EAD app, other receipts to get an iEAD, There are no special appointments you can make for this.

Is this changed? Please let me know I am banking on getting an iEAD by walking in after 90- days.

Typically, the local office's don't allow walk ins. You normally have to make an on-line appointment through:
http://infopass.uscis.gov/

I just checked that infopass is available at San Jose,
however, it says that this is an alternative to
delayed walk-ins, so does it mean that I can still
choose walk-in?

thanks

I suppose if it's a big emergency, you can try to walk in but if you got some time, why not just book an appointment online?

I booked an appointment for April 4th, I will be trying to walk-in on 31March anyway, well it is urgent and we need it ASAP. RD is Dec 30 2004.

Can someone tell me what is an iEAD ? I thought EAD is supposed to
come in by mail at home address. Is iEAD different than EAD ?

Thanks

iEAD ==> Interim EAD. This can be obtained from your local USCIS office if you cross 90 days (from your Receipt date) of your EAD filing and do not receive the EAD in mail. I believe this iEAD is valid for 240 days unlike the EAD which is valid for 1 year.

Hope this helps!!!

It's also possible to get an EAD before 90 days and it's also possible to get this interim EAD for 1 year (I did both).

Some, not all, district offices allow for approving interim EADs if there are emergency situations. If it can be shown that your job will be lost or you will be denied a job if you don't get your EAD soon, they may approve the EAD before 90 days. You will need some proof of the situation by providing a signed letter from the current/prospective employer.
