Getting EAD

My I-140 has been filed this month (8/2006). My understanding is that there is no more rule of concurrent filing of I-485. That means I can't have the EAD till I file for I-485. I see in the forum some have EAD even there I-140 is filed recently. My category is EB3.

Can anypne please clarify my confusion.

Concurrent filing is still existing and whether or not you can file I-485 depends on your country of origin and if the retrogression is in effect for you or not. If you are from India and the LC is eligible for EB2 then, in all probability you can apply for I-485 and EAD starting from October as you have a nice old PD if it is EB2.
