Getting a State I.D in NY with a 0-1 visa

Hi Im in new york with a O-1 visa and I want to get a non-driver state I.D:

I have my passport with a valid 1-94
valid work visa
My social security card(it says "Valid to work only with INS Permit")
Credit Card
Union Card

I was just wondering my 1-94 is valid till 2008 . If i apply for a State I.D is it valid till 2008 ? Do I need more then does documents.?Any advice.? Is the procedure faster since Iam not getting a drivers lincense?

The validity of state ID and/or DL is for 4 Years. Chances are you will get it until the end date on your I-94. By the documents you have in hand, you will have no problem getting it.
 
Thanx for your response. That what I thought. So guy in the DL forum was saying that in NY if you dont have a greencard U just can't get anything, saying that NY is very dificult and harsh about giving D/L or I.d. cards to non-immigrant workers. So I just had to check......

Its more pain to get DL than the state ID. Since you need state ID or going to get one, and as you have all the docs in hand, you won't have any problem. Check with DMV first by phone or go to local office for further info.
 
One of the isssues i have is that my -129 is valid to 2008, my 1-94 is valid to 2008, but the actual stamp in my passport is only valid for 6 months, because mexican cicitzen can only get 6 months 0-1 visas stamp fro entry. So I dont know if the DMV is going to make it valid, because my stamp expires on junly 2005 but I am legal to stay here an work till 2008.

Your PP stamp is only for you to enter the US. Rest of your stay is stated in I-94. So whatever I-94 expiration date is in, thats your staying in US. You are legal to stay here till 2008, if thats what your I-94 divulge.

I went today to get my I.D form the DMV and everything went great.
Even though my 1-94 is till 2008 they gave me the i.d till 2014. Belive it or not, they were so nice.....so I'am happy and rellifed i did the porcess and its over.... It took 2.5 hours....WOW..that was long!!!
