German Transit Visa

Am not sure if there was a thread on this ealier. I will be leaving the country to go Home via Frankfurt, Germany. Have a valid Ap and invalid H1B and currently working on EAD. I went to the German Consulate to get a airport trasit visa but was told that as I have the AP donot need a visa.
Does anybody have any other experince tranvelling via Frankfurt?

I know one of my friend went recently. He was on AP, and went thru Frankfurt and was fine. So nothing to worry. Only problem is with UK.
