General FP question

Hi, my I485 application was sent last week of August.

Last week I received my AP and EAD.

This week I received my FP notice for mid-October.

Can someone tell me:

1) What is the significance of FP?
2) Is it an indication of how soon I'll get my GC?
3) What does it mean (if anything)?

Additional questions: My lawyer informed me that because my birth country is Japan, that my priority date is current. What does this mean?
