general CP processing questions

How much faster is Consular Processing (CP) than regular processing (i.e. staying within USA and let the lawyer file everything for you)? What are the exact steps to take for CP? What are the risks involved in CP (e.g. possible to be denied)? (My labor certification has been approved. I now need to file for I-140 and I-485). Thanks a lot!
 
consular processing is 6 months after I-140. I-485 has been stuck on 12/16/2001 for the past 9 months or so for CSC.......
There are many discussions on the pros and cons of each so go over them and decide for yourself.
