GC visa and Canada visit

Hi. I finally got my DV GC visa and I will be travelling to the US soon, however I will not stay long in my first entry, and most likely I will not even wait untill I get my green card. I want to visit my friend in Canada during my first visit but I was wondering if I can pass the borders with my current GC immigrant visa. I am a citizen of a country that is asked for visa to visit Canada, so is there anyone here has the answer?
Thanks!

Once you enter the U.S. with an immigrant visa, you automatically become a permanent resident. On your immigrant visa it will say, upon endorsed (i.e. stamped upon entry), serves as I-551 for one year. I-551 is green card. The plastic card is an I-551, but your endorsed visa is also an I-551. It works in the same way; you can use it to work and travel. Canada recognizes it just like the normal plastic card.

Thank you for your very informative reply! I am so glad to hear it.
