GC through US Citizen Spouse

My husband recently got his US citizenship through naturalization. We would now like to apply for my GC through the Family Based GC application. But we have one question that begs an answer for this application.

About 10 months ago, I renewed my Indian Passport, and with that I changed my name in the passport to replace my maiden last name with my husband's last name. My new passport also mentions that I am married and my husband's name.

My social security, employment, H1B visa, utility, bank and rest of the accounts carry my maiden name except this passport.

We do have the old passport with us as well.

I would like to know with what name should I use to apply for GC? Will I now be required to change name in all places before applying.

Thanks

Use your current name when apply for your GC. You will need to disclose your maiden name (all previous names) on your application anyway. You should also change your name on all of your other documents ASAP. That is easier than filling out the GC petition/application paperwork anyway, so you should do those first. But you should not have to wait for everything to come back before sending your GC application. If they require additional documentation they will ask for it.

Remember you only have one legal name, and that is your new name since you chose to take your husband's surname. Other documents simply are not updated to your new legal name, so you should have them corrected.
