hi,what is the proceedure for a j-1 physician who has waiver thro usda to get a gc thro spouse who has gc.when do we apply ?what forms to use?any input will be helpful

I-130

Your wife can sponsor you for GC by filing I-130, but you may file adjustment of status (I-485) not earlier than you complete your 3-year J-1 waiver work obligation.

Alternatively (and simultaneously, if you wish), you can proceed with NIW or/and Labor Certification, and attain permanent residency that way.

You (your wife, actually) can file I-130 at any time, but you\'ll be able to apply for adjustment of status (or immigrant visa abroad) only when 3 years of J-1 waiver job are done with. LC is faster than NIW to get a green card.
