My citizenship interview is scheduled to be on May 4th. My wallet go stolen yesterday and my Green Card was in it. I am filing a police report today. I have a photocopy of my green card. What are my options?

1. Should I file for I-90? Even if I do so, it will probably not get done before my interview date.
2. Can I go for my interview as scheduled with the photocopy of my green card and the police report?

Any help will on this will be much appreciated!

A friend of mine was in a similar situation, but he lost is GC. He filed a I-90 and then wrote to withdraw the application after he was naturalized.

Bashar82, Did your friend have any trouble at the time of the citizenship interview? I am planning to take my police report and photocopy of my GC for the citizenship interview. Did your friend take any other documents to support his case of the GC being stolen?

Also, how long does a duplicate GC take...They have asked for Biometrics fees...does that mean that both photgraph and fingerprinting for GC will happen again?

When I lost my GC during the week of December '05, I applied for it online immediately. NSC got back with a FP date mid January at Boise. I received the new GC by the end of January '06. BTW, Boise IO told me that he would provide a temporary card if there was any delay.

After you have the police report get an INFOPASS and visit your local INS should give you a temporary card thats good for a year . also ask them about their policy if , you should file for a I-90 or just stay the way you are ... but having a temporary card is important , not only for the interview but for oath also
Good luck

***edit***
When i took my oath saw lots of temporary cards being turned in ...
