GC Stamping question - I-94 related???

For all those who have completed stamping:

When giving documents for stamping, which I-94 should we hand over? I had changed status from H4 to H1 two years back. The I-94 on my passport is for my first visit. I never got another stamp for visa nor did I get another I-94 since I never left the country. Now I have the old I-94 in my passport and an approval notice with an I-94 at the bottom, which incidentally has also expired since the company would not extend my status as I already had obtained an EAD.

Based on the above, should I hand over the I-94 in my passport only or also the I-94 in attached to the bottom of the change of status approval notice? Any insight to the matter would be appreciated.

Does your old I-94 (attached to your passport) and the New one (Attached to your H1 approval) have the same number ?

If so, it is irrelevant as to which one you submit at the time of stamping. In any case, you should submit the latest I-94 (attached to your H1)

Best Wishes

Thanks conan123 for your reply. Yes, the number is the same. I guess you are right, I should give them the last one I have since that depicts the latest status I was on.

Appreciate your response.

No you have to submit both the I-94.. Same thing happened with me once , I was on H1 with one company, changed the company to another H1, then changed the company to another H1.

At one point I have three I-94, when i left the country i have submit all the three I-94 and so does for the Stamping...

so submitt all.

Good Luck
Peace

Thanks green_love. I plan on taking everything with me. Guess I'll ask them what they need and show them everything I have.

Appreciate your response.

what all documents needed

v_a_rao;

What are the documents needed to be submitted when we go for stamping. Could you please post them. Thanks in advance

The approval notice asks for the following items:

- arrival / departure record, form i-94
- passport
- two ADIT style color photo.

That's it. Nothing else is mentioned. Although, from other posters, I gathered that we have to take out EAD and AP too.

I plan on taking every piece of document I have just in case, but will produce only that has been requested.

very simple ....

It's very simple - give them all the I-94's (expired, un-expired, and those attached to H1/H4 approval notices). You don't need them anyways - since you don't need to give any I-94's when you leave the country - the GC stamp on your passport is proof (before the green card arrives) and once you are a permanent resident, there's no I-94 to be filled.

Is there any need to take any job letters , paystub etc,

am just confirming...i know it sounds silly...

thanks

thanks ashes02. That is exactly what I intend doing.

drgreen - no there is no requirement asking us to bring any proof of employment. My lawyer says that once the case has been approved, stamping is just a formality - there is no interview or questions posed at stamping except for those relating to the required documents stated in the approval notice. They just take your documents and store it in your case folder before completing processing for their own records.

I'll post my experience on friday after completion of stamping.
