I received my 2 yr conditional green card in the mail this morning. No errors on the card, everything looks fine. It was 83 days from mailing the applications to getting the card.

The only loose thread is that the online status for the I-130 still says "We will mail you a decision as soon as processing is complete." All the others say "your case has been approved." Since I have my card, I can't say I'm that bothered...

Since people have been asking, the card came in a plain white double window envelope. The upper left window showed the PO Box address for the Missouri service center, the main window showed my address. It was postmarked Corbin, KY on October 3 (Corbin is the location of the USCIS card manufacturing center).

No other markings (no "address service requested" and no "do not forward") were printed on the letter.

Thanks to everyone who gave me advice, it's nice to be done with immigration paperwork for now (at least for 2 years...). Good luck to everyone still pending.

Good deal. Guess I'll meet you back in two years when we get started on the conversion to the 10 yr card :)

Indeed. See you in the "after the green card" forum in a couple of years :)

In retrospect, the most painful part of the process was sitting in the social security office for two and a half hours this morning waiting to get a new SS card that without "valid only with INS authorization" stamped on it!

When I got to the counter, it took two minutes for the woman to do this, and they said I'll be getting a new SS card in a couple of weeks. (In case anyone asks, I first got my SSN 7 years ago when I arrived as an F1 student.)

Hey,

Can you tell me what the welcome notice u received states.

Thanks in advance

To paraphrase:

Welcome to the United States of America.

This is to notify you that your application for permanent residence has been approved. It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to permanent resident status in the United States.

At the top of this notice is your A#. It is important. Use it whenever you contact us.

We will soon mail you a new Permanent Resident Card. You should receive it in 3 weeks. You can use it to show your new status. If you are 18 or older you must carry it with you at all times. It is the law.

Please call us if the information on the card is incorrect, or you do not receive it in 3 weeks.

Please read the notice that comes with your card, it has important information about your card, your status, and your resposibilities as a permanent resident.

Your new card will expire 2 years from the date you became a permanent resident. By law your resident status is conditional and you must apply to remove these conditions before your card expires. We recommend you apply several months before your card expires. When the time comes, for filing information, or if you have any other questions, call us or visit www.uscis.gov

Once again welcome to the USA, and congratulations on your permanent resident status.

THIS FORM IS NOT A VISA NOR MAY IT BE USED IN PLACE OF A VISA.
