it says that i've had my residency since oct 19 which was my interview date, however i got the email last week.
is this a problem? any thoughts?

It means that you were approved at your interview, but for some reason they've been sitting on manufacturing your card for a few months. Happened to me and Addie_Goodvibes as well. Its nothing to worry about certainly.

I do not know why they back date the residancy on the GC.
Luckily we 10 years before we have to worry about this process again.
(ours expires 12/2016)
They sat on our card an additional 2 weeks from processing it. figures!

BTW Congrats on receiving the green Card, just in time for the Holidays
My wife received hers on her Birthday! is your a Conditional or LPR 10 Year?

Addie, the residency is not back dated. Your wife officially became a resident when your interviewing officer said "you're approved". Its important for the green card to reflect this date as its used when applying for citizenship.

Isn't it supposed to be "conditionnal" for 2 years?

If the marriage is more than 2 years when the GC is approved, then the GC would be UNconditional and valid for 10 years.

thanks addie, got the 2 year card, am happy i got it before the hols, cuz now i can travel!! these ppl just made me wait and wait and wonder. but it's over for now. i was asking abt the right date, b/c they actually approved me on the 4th of this month, but the customer service ppl said that oct 19 is the right date. this is only b/c i need to know when i can start to remove the conditions, and when i can put in my citizenship application. it's just so cool to finally be an LPR though!! so much stress is just over!!!
