I used to work in 1999 for consulting company x in US in state A.
Company x filed my labor and got approved in 2000 from state A.
I changed company x and joined company y in 2001.
company y filed for my gc but sold our division to company z in state B.
Now I am in state B and company z, but company x offered me
that they are ready to file I 140 and I 485 for me if I join them later.
I said yes, but I am not sure at that time of stamping I have to be employee
of company x or I can join company x after GC is done.
This is because company x may not have consulting job for me when I get GC

job at x

You certanily can join x in state A even if you are working at present at Z in state B.

The important thing to note here is that "The GC is apporved on the basis that there is a FUTURE PERMANENT job available to you". This can be proved/shown by an employment offer letter from co. x. If co. x is not ready to provide you such a letter (and subsequently a real job), your 485 will be denied (or your Citizenship can be in trouble later).

Maybe.

Until we have implementing regulations for AC21 there iw no definite answer to your question. My advice would be don't count on it. Expect that you will be required to work for the sponsoring employer after your GC is approved and they should expect to employ you.
