GC, Layoff and Umemployment benefits

Hi,

Our GC was approved April 1, 2004 and we got it stamped end of April. Have not received the plastic yet but have been laid off since last Friday (May 28) .

How would appyling for unemployment benefits affect my GC status or affect naturalization in the long run?

Also, would I be able to apply for unemployment with the stamping or do I need the platic.

You are eligible for Unemployment benefits-contact local office. It should not have any impact on your GC or naturalization- even though there are rumours to that effect :rolleyes: . Your GC stamp and layoff letterare good enough for applying.
