Hi Guys,

Now that my I-485 is approved as part of my AOS, whats next in terms of I-130. Is there anything that needs to be done from my end for I-130 to be approved. I still see its in the "Initial Review" status.

Also, since I have an SSN card ( which I got when I came to this country as a student back in 2000), that says "Valid for work with INS authorization only", should I go to SSA and get a new card. Or can I do it over the phone

Please advice

Thank you

Once you have your GC in hand, take it with you to a SSA office to get the restrictions removed from your current SS card..........something I'm yet to do with mine.

Nothing gets done over the phone dear friend, Americans like their immigrants in person. So, once you have the GC in hand, then you can go to the local SSN office, avoid going there on Monday/Tuesday..a busload of bums tend to be there, unless you live in a small city where all the bums are visited at home by SSN officers. If your I-485 is approved, why do you care about I-130? Just move on and leave it to the crappy USCIS system...

Our case is still pending. However, after the GC has been approved, does the petitioner who filled the I-130 receives a approval notice in the mail for the I-130? Just want to know, because I want to include the notice with my records.

I don't think you need to worry about I-130 when you have your GC. They would have called you for interview and given the approval only when they determine that the I-130 application is correct.

Yes. The approval is send to the petitioner, we hope that the both the petitioner and the beneficiary live under the same roof.

Yes, my wife and I do live at the same location. It is just there has been a lot on this forum about the approval for the GC notice. My wife actually has a file of all of her immigration paperwork going back to when she was on F-1 status. We would place both approval notices in that file.

We do live in a small city but has not been visited by any SSN or INS officers yet :p

typically your sponsor will receive a letter saying the I-130 is approved (irrespective of the online status). But, really it doesn't matter. So, just wait for your card, enjoy "relatively" pain free travel!
