GC in process but want to apply for Canadian PR

Hi,
My company is sponsoring me for GC. Currently my documents in the DOL.

Currently I am in Canada working in of our company's branch offices. Currently I hold both H1-B and Canadian Work permit.

While my documents being processed in the US I want to initiate immigration process in Canada so just in case my GC process fails for some reason I'll still have Canadian Perm. Res.

-What are the side-affects of apply for Canadian PR while my GC process?

-Any laws prohiting such dual process?

-Am I allowed under any GC laws to do so?

Historically many people did dual permanemt residency process. If you dig through the old (archive) mails you would be able to find many valuable information. Just being applied in DOL shouldn't have any problem to process Canadian PR. Hope you will get more insight information from others here. Thanks.
