GC holder working outside US

I am getting a job offer in India and I am thinking of moving back. By doing this, am I violating the GC status? I was thinking of visiting US once in 6 months for a couple of days to make sure that my GC status remains. Is this adequate? Also do I need to pay US taxes on whatever money I earn in India?

If you give up your residence here, then you lose
your GC.

Not adequate because you treat USA like a tourist spot
rather than your permanent home. A lot fo people
do that but there is a risk that eventually they will
be caught. You should get a re-entry permit, which can
allow you to stay abraod for 2 years.

As a PR, You need to report world-wide income to the
IRS, therefore you need to report the money you make in India.
Whether you should pay taxex on them depend upon USA_India
tax treaty.

Re-entry Visa

Whats the procedure for getting a re-entry visa? By getting a re-entry visa for an year, can I safely remain outside the US without affecting my green card status?
Thanks.

U should be ok:

I am working in India too, for the past year. I am on deputation for an US employer. Salary gets deposited in US bank with the usual tax deduction.

I got my Green Card 2 weeks ago . My lawyer;s advice is, you could potentially stay upto a year from the time u left US. If returning less than 180 days the no problem. Word of caution: if this is repeated occurence then it may lead to an investigation.

Hope this helps.
