GC holder to study aboroad

is it OK for a GC to go study for 2 years or less outside the US without risking his GC status? is that is ok with CIS?
 
You need to get a re-entry permit which allows you to re-enter the US within 2 years. With the re-entry permit, you will not have any problems at the POE.
 
JoeF, thanks for your Input.
I have to check with some of my friends who actually did this, they were not even working during the period that they were out of the country, so I am not sure whether they actually had to file taxes in the US. They actually closed shop here in the US for that duration and then came back later. Shall check and re-post. Are you the same JoeF in Murthy . com ?
