GC holder sponsoring CC in US, what is the expected time of an application process?

Hi Everyone:

I am a Canadian Citizen. My boy friend is a Greencard holder in US which he got almost a year ago. I want to know if he sponsors me as spouse then how long it will take for me to become a Permanent Resident of US.

Also, wanna know if I will be authorized to work on HIB in US during my sponsorship period.
