GC Holder/Refugee's options

Hi there,

I am GC holder, I got my GC through refugee status. I have a quick question for anyone who may be able to advise me; and here is my situation:

My fiancee is abroad and I am trying to figure out what options do I have to have her come here so that we can live together as a married couple.

Any advise is much appreciated.

Very complicated but it boils down to filling I130 then wait for 5 to 7 years for visa to be available but what few others have done is get a student or visitor visa

Thanks Shefe! So if she uses a visitor visa, will she be able to adjust after we get married? Or she will have to leave the country before the expiration of the visitor visa allowed stay?

If she comes in and then marry you, she can not adjust because GC holder dont have that provision like US citizen does. If she decides to stay with you here in america with a visitor visa then when her I94 expires she then becomes out of status so she needs to return back before her I94 expires but the keyword here is maintaining her status until you become a citizen which in plain english will cost you money.

She can apply for student visa here before the expiration of visiting visa I-94 so she will adjust from B visa to F visa... doing that here in USA is easier than applying directly to Student visa at the US Embassy in home country

College will certainly cost money... any other advice Shefe? like work visa?

Work visa will also suffice if an employer is willing to sponsor..

Refugee100--how many more years do you have to wait before filling for citizenship?
