GC holder - POE question

Hi Guys,

For those of you with GC, at POE, has immigration ever asked you if you still worked for the sponsoring employer? If so, what airport and when?

I got my GC 6 months ago and changed my employer 2 months after getting GC. I was wondering if I will get grilled at the airport (JFK NY) coming from Pakistan.

Thanks

When I traveled about 3-4 months after GC approval, the POE officer asked where I work. I was still working for the sponsoring employer at that time; I told him the company name and he moved on to the next question without asking anything more about the employer. I don't know if he would have given me a problem if I said a different employer.

Thanks for the response.

Since you're a veteran of the forum, have you heard/read abt CBP officers giving GC holders a hard time at airport POE for leaving sponsoring employer shortly after getting GC?

I can not answer this specific question, but POE questioning is completely at the CBP officer's discretion / judgement / profiling which determines what you get asked. Even if others have not been asked, you can be. Are they supposed to hold you if you have changed employers? I do not think so. Their job is to make sure they do not let you enter and harm the country ... even if they ask about the employer change, it is very difficult for them to progress the investigation much more into this issue unless a fraud was obvious. [ And I presume you have a credible story to tell on why you left your employer. ]
