GC Holder out of Us in three days of enetering on Reentry with 2.5 years of absence

I just wanted your opion on this.

I know a young GC holder who got GC in April 2007, went out on Renentry Permit in Aug/sept 2007, Renenterd US on Reentry Permit in April 2010, and after staying two three days in US.

The above person again plan to come to US in Sept 2010 and stay mostly in US.

Do you think there will be issues, when he/she tries to reenter again in Sept 2010? The reason for prolonged absence out side US is study.

I assume they don't have a reentry permit that will still be valid when they return in Sept. 2010?

They may or may not have a problem. They just need to arrive at the POE with evidence of ties to the US (bank account statement, mortgage/lease documents if any, evidence of filing taxes since 2007, etc.) and evidence that the travel abroad is for study and not work, in case the officer at the POE notices the extensive travel pattern over the years and makes an issue of it. But don't show the documents unless asked.
