GC for widowed father without marriage certificate

Hello Everyone,

I am a US citizen planning to apply GC for my widowed father. I see one of the requirements is to submit my parents marriage certificate.
My parents got married in 70's and they never got their marriage certificate and now since my mother passed away there is no way I can get marriage certificate in India.

Would appreciate inputs if someone gone through same situation and applied GC for their father.
