GC For Mother - Need Help

Hello All:

I recently sent in the payment for Form GS230 to NVC. I believe once they mail me form I need to have it signed by my mother. I have the following questions:

(a) Would she require any police verification? If not, when would she require it if at all?
(b) Does she require to submit a birth certificate? If not, when does she need to?
(c) Once NVC gets the DS230 form and they verify it, I believe they send it to US consul in India. What would the consul send to my mother? If there are forms to be filled, I could pre-fill them and help her.
(d) I read on other threads about Packet III etc. Is that relevant for my case?

Any and all help is greatfully appreciated. Thank you.

Regards,
Rusty

Oops forgot to ask

Could I download the GS230 form and send it to India in advance for signing so that by the time NVC send me their form, I would have a signed copy to send to them!! Unles they customize their GS230 form and are d...heads and won't except a downloaded form? Please advise?

I am just starting the CP process and did something like that for my Dad. I actually emailed to my Dad in India, the links for forms DS 230 and Agent form and he printed it and signed DS 230 Part I (not Part II - this needs to be signed later by the Applicant probably in the presence of the Immig officer in the Consulate) and the Agent form. I am hoping that we would save some time in the process if I have the forms signed and ready, so I can send them right back to NVC. But God knows, like you mentioned if the forms that they send should look different in format or something - then we would have to send it back and forth to India for signature.

rusty7,

I'm gathering this kind of information as I'm considering the CP route for my parents. From what I know by reading the internet forum:

(a) Would she require any police verification? If not, when would she require it if at all?
Yes. Before interview, consulate will send her Packet 4 asking for police verification and medical examination. These two items are usually valid for a certain period (like 1 year). So you may get the police verification in advance based on your case progress.

(b) Does she require to submit a birth certificate? If not, when does she need to?
I'm not sure about this one.

(c) Once NVC gets the DS230 form and they verify it, I believe they send it to US consul in India. What would the consul send to my mother? If there are forms to be filled, I could pre-fill them and help her.
It will be Packet 3 - instruction packet. After that it will be Packet 4 - appointment packet. I found this info from China, Guangzhou consulate website:

(d) I read on other threads about Packet III etc. Is that relevant for my case?
Yes.
