On September 19th I went for my interview and my IO told me they needed addition information.Within 3 days time I gathered all what my IO told me I needed . Its been two weeks and I am still waiting on this letter called the N-14. Online uscis site says it been sent out on the 19th. I called customer service and they resubmitted a request for the letter.I have also made an info pass to see if I can talk to an IO there explain my situation and see if they will accept the letters requested that day. I have 29 days before my GC expires and I am soon to be laid off from my job due to the industry. No GC no job nor Unemployment .I am lost to what else to do

Remember that GC expiration doesn't mean your permanent resident status has expired. If you have a Social Security card without the employment restriction, you can use that plus a driver's license or state ID for employment, without having to show the GC. See the I-9 instructions and the List B and List C sections.

If you applied for naturalization more than 6 months before your GC expiration date, you are entitled to get a free I-551 stamp in your passport if your GC has expired or is almost expired while your naturalization is pending. But if you applied for natz. with less than 6 months remaining on your GC, you would have to apply for GC renewal and pay the fee in order to get the I-551 stamp. Then with the renewal receipt you can go for the I-551 stamping.

I did file 6 months before my green card expired. Would it matter if my passport was expired? How do I go about receiving an I-551 stamp?Thank you!

Edit: Another thing I have a lawyer but I grow weary of her.Is that letter sent to my address or her address?

Even if they gave you the I-551 in your expired passport, it wouldn't help much because you can't use the expired passport for employment, and you cant use it to reenter the US either (unless you get a valid passport and at the POE you show it together with the expired passport that has the I-551).

If your Social Security card still has the employment restriction, hurry up and visit an SS office to apply for an unrestricted SS card before your GC expires. As I mentioned above, you don't need the I-551 or GC for employment if you have the unrestricted SS card.

If a lawyer is involved and you signed G-28, the RFE will usually go to the lawyer.
