Good afternoon to everyone on this board. My name is Albin my family migrate to the US in the late 70's after I was born i nthe Dominican Republic.. I have spend all my adult life i nthe US with no criminal record and as US education. I have 3 children al American a American Wife... for stupid reason ...no I regret.....We moved to the Dominican Republic back in 06. We have been self employee working form home in the us for 3 years prior to moving to do the same in the DR... Now my youngest daughter has a speech problem and the school system in the Dominican Republic jsut does not have any schools in the area.. my wife wants us to buy a house in the Us again and move back.. while doing this i check my GC and realize that it expired on 05/08 and our whole perspective change...
We move here due to lack of jobs in our field and we could not afford our mortgage so we decided to move to a house we own free and clear in the Dominicna Republic...We have been working from home(for US clients )as a NYC corporations since 06 ....is it possible for me to be re-allow entrance to the us....WIFE IS PUSHING HARD FOR US TO MOVE BACK AND DONT WANT OT BREAK UP OUR FAMILY.. plus My oldest son Albincito is now living i nNYC city and about to enter HS.....
please help us out....any free advise....
hey biggest reason for not re entering was lack of $$$$..its hard during a resection ...to travel.and did not felt safe to leave family behind while i when in to the US. without my wife and kids.

Even if your GC did not expire, your permanent resident status would have been lost anyway because by staying outside for the US continuously for more than 1 year without appropriate authorization (e.g. reentry permit, military/diplomatic assignment) they would have deemed you to have abandoned your US residence and you would most likely be refused entry or sent to see an immigration judge if you tried to use the GC to enter the US.

However, with you having a US citizen wife, she can file for another green card for you.
