GC at last after some delays

After visiting this website incessantly for a long time, I can finally share our story in abbreviated fashion in case it helps anyone.

I-485 RD March 2000 (based on EB-1 approved 140)

July 2001: rec’d notice from TSC that file transferred to Dallas DO.

Feb 2002: I was in Dallas for my 3rd EAD and noted that processing of cases for I-485s was finally at my date (this info also avail on many websites).

April 2002: Heard nothing, 1-800 cust serv # said could not do anything until 30 months total passed (Sept 2002).

I didn’t like the answer, so contacted my congressman. Then after about 2 months further wait, and a host of events (not the least of which was an IO calling us at work to fax us new FP notices and tell us to get new medicals, and to tell us we fell through the cracks!), we got an appt for our AOS interview on July 1 (happy Canada day- yes I am a Canuck). Then when we show up there bad news- my file still was not there (had been requested in Feb, april, and june) so could not close case. Left there with nothing but despair. BUT, apparently they closed the case (either the got the file or declared it lost!) as last Friday we (wife and I) got our approval letters!! A grand total of 28 months, but we’re free of the paperwork at last!

If this helps anyone, great. If not, sorry and good luck to all seeking a GC.
