Hi every one:

Please share your experience driving through US-Canada border. This will be my first oversea trip since my LPR approval 5/21/2003. Frankly, I am anxious. Appreciated for any advice.

Asylum approval: 7/97
I-485 ND: 8/98
LPR approval: 5/21/2003

Nothing new, just show your GC, and they may ask you a couple of stupid question, making sure you know where u live, and then let you go :D

same as US officer

by the way, dont bring anything raw

it should be fun, i will drive to victoria next week after my final :D

A trip to Canada is not considered an overseas trip by CIS. Make sure you have two pieces of ID - for Canada and coming back to US border your GC and DL will suffice. It is going to be a pleasant experience - I assure you. :)

Don't take any firearms, meat, alcohol, tobacco, and gifts in excess of $65 - if you do, you will need to declare them.

Some of the questions you may be asked are:

- Where do you live?
- What is the purpose of your visit?
- What is your intended destination?
- Do you have any firearms, alcohol, tobacco, and illegal substances?
- What do you do for a living?
- How long do you intend to stay in Canada?

The US Customs will ask you the same thing except it will be related to the USA. Being an asylee, they will also ask you if you have a national passport and when the last you visited the country from which you seeked refuge.

Hope this helps. And share your experience with this forum upon your return.
