GC Approved. Can I travel without staming

My GC got approved on May 21st as per online message. I haven't received
my approval notice yet.
I have a valid AP & I am travelling on 29th

If I am not getting the notice before 28th, is it safe to travel on AP?
Any prior experience on travel with AP & approved GC?
 
Travel with AP & 485 approved OK as per one BCIS officer

I got my passport stamped today without the approval notice. When I asked the officer about travel AP with I-485 approved, she told that it is OK.
Anyway you may get different answer when talk to different people.
 
But without an approval notice for 485, how would you know of your approval (Assumption: not checking online). And I heard from INS office that AP is valid till we get the GC stamped on the passport.
What is the extent of risk at the POE in this situation? Actually my wife got (fedexed) an AP (name corrected copy) dated a day later than even the 485 approval!
 
Someone who is abroad when the GC gets approved can enter on AP and get a deferred inspection. But let us say, the person on vacation did not know that he/she is approved while entering on AP, will the officer at POE would know about the approval?
 
Yes, we expect the information to be there in front of officer's screen. But people have entered on AP and found approval letter in the mail when they arrive home. I think, the update may take some time. If this is the case, then databases are not linked and they may be using different systems.
 
My understanding is that it would show up when the person's data is entered.

How did you get passport stamp w/o the approval notice? That sounds strange. Didn't the officer ask you to give up your AP? Why would you travel on AP if you have a passport stamp, anyway?
