GC approvals women vs men

I have noticed lately that USCIS seem to be approving GCs for women faster than for men.A number of women have been approved where as some of their male counterparts who applied at the same time have not.A friend and a relative both women applied in 2002 and 2003 respectively had their GCs approved .Could this have something to do with background checks, ie men have to undergo a more thorough checks as compared to women??
Just wondering!!
